Uhmwpe has one of the highest strengths of any
Thermoplastics and has excellent abrasion
resistance, Tensile Strength, Energy
Absorption, Resistance to Stress Cracking and Coefficient of Friction Properties. As
Molecular weight Increases, These Important
Characteristics of a Thermoplastics Improve. UHMW wit ha molecular weight of Aproximately
4-6 Million, Provides. an Exceptional
Combination of these Advantageous
properties. UHMW is Particularly well-suited
for Applications where Durability and low
Friction are of paramount Importance and its high resistance to Corrosive chemicals with
the exception of oxidizing acids. make it an
ideal choice for a wide range og corrosive
environment applications. test pieces will
not break under normal izod notched impact test procedures. even high impact loads have
failed to cause breakage. because UHMW work hardens, repeated impacts actually toughen
it. |

|
UHMW is self-lubricating, especially in
unlubricated movement over metal surfaces is
inherently anti - adhesive, making it the
overwhelming choice for chute and bin
linings. wear strips, slide plates, bearings and bushings-all areas sliding contact is
encountered. UHMW coefficient of friction is
significantly better than nylon and acetal and is virtually the same as teflon but has
superior abrasion resistance. UHMW excellent abrasion resistance coupled with its very
low coefficient of friction is why UHMW is
so widely used in such industries as bottling and canning food packing and processing, grain logging and textile
production where abrasion cannot be tolerated. in addition to the above
outstanding properties. UHMW is completely water repellent and not affected by
moisture. as well as being good chemical and
stress cracking resistant material. |
